Into The Wild Movie Review

Rated: R
Run Time: 148 Minutes

Sean Penn directs this feature based on best-selling author Jon Krakauer's true story of a young man who gives up everything to lead a solitary life in the wild. Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch), a middle-class college graduate, abandons his safe existence to trek across the harsh yet beautiful terrain of Alaska. William Hurt and Marcia Gay Harden co-star, along with Catherine Keener, Vince Vaughn and Hal Holbrook (in an Oscar-nominated role)

Into the wild was was a very enjoyable movie. I love to watch movies that are based on true stories. Plot and presentation were very well thought out. It kept you guessing and wanting more. It's hard to imagine a person giving up all their worldly possessions and living in the wild. Though I have to say the moving was a little slow going. Over all I'll have to give it 3 stars out of 5 star rating.

  1. I saw a documentary about this. McCandless 'survived' in the wild for about 3 months and died of starvation.
I thought it was kind of dangerous the way Krakauer romanticised his wanderings. What did you think?

  2. I just did a review on this movie too! I thought it was way to long and was not sure how I felt about it. I did think it was good and interesting. I gave it 3 1/2 stars out of 5. So is your 3 stars out of 3? Didn't he die of starvation brought on by eatting the wrong plants?

  4. McCandless's story is tragic, but then so many people have benefited from hearing it... a couple of years of hitchhiking and camping made a story that now challenges thousands (millions?) of people to reexamine their lives
