Thanksgiving is such a wonderful time of year. It's a time to spend quality time with those special family members and friends. It's always so nice to enjoy a wonderful meal with great company. I have some really great Thanksgiving memories to cherish always. It's always a big to do in our family. My mom always seems to share her kindness to those who have no family to share the holidays with. Some years I can remember have up to 30 plus people squeezed at our dinning room table enjoying our holiday meal. Isn't that what Thanksgiving is all about? Sharing with others and being thankful for what we all have, no matter how small. There are so many less fortunate this holiday season. It’s important that we think about and give to these less fortunate. My mom always makes the most delicious turkey and stuffing. While my little sister makes all the home made pies, and yes we always have a pumpkin pie to enjoy on top of tons of other yummy holiday dishes. My job always seems to be the mash potatoes each year. The best holiday tip I could give anybody would be to have each and everyone of your guest to bring one of their favorite dishes to pass. That way it makes it easier on the hostess and you get to contribute to the holiday feast. It's always such a comfort for me to spend these special times with my family and friends. Do you have any great Thanksgiving memories you'd like to share? If so, I'd love to hear all about them. Remember tis the season to share. You have to make a stop at Walmart's Holiday Meals website. At this amazing site they give these great tips on how to prepare a holiday meal for eight for as low as $20.00. Plus, there are some amazing recipes from the Food Network’s Melissa d’Arabians. Okay, now to the gift card giveaway.

I think the best way to save money for the holidays is to budget, be aware of sales and to keep an eye out for store brand items as most are just as good as the name brands and cost a lot less, especially at Walmart!
ReplyDeleteLove Walmart, hope to win!

My favorite Christmas memory is driving around to see Christmas lights when our kids were small.
ReplyDeleteMy tips are to utilize coupons if you can and free gifts if you're buying somewhere anyway. Also, USE THE DOLLAR OR DEALS STORE. They do have some good things for younger kids and it saves a ton...oh, and it's a good place for cheap wrapping or decorations.

One of my favorite memories around holidays was a few years back my little sister came for a visit from France right before Christmas. It was a big surprise since we were told they couldn't make it due to overbooked flights everywhere!

My favorite memory from thanksgiving was the year my dad and step mom came and instead of doing traditional foods we did an Indian food theme and had a lot of fun together.
ReplyDeleteI still remember the time when hubby and i went to the woods just to find a Cyprus tree to make as a Christmas tree. We do not have money to buy a Christmas tree but we like it so every time the we are celebrating Christmas in our home we went to the woods and hunting a beautiful Cyprus tree. Then I will just wrap some of the stuff that we did not use and put it under the tree. We enjoyed decorating it with our son. That was my memorable experience during holidays.
ReplyDeleteJust yesterday I was looking at some old pictures of my mom's and they were of Thanksgiving. This one was in the 70's and we always had the neighbors over for Thanksgiving. They didn't have any family around and neither did we so we all became family for the day. They had two girls a little younger then me and they had made pilgrim outfits to wear that day. It's sad to think that now my parents are both gone and so are theirs. Plus Judy the girl closest to my age has also passed away. Time goes by very fast and you never know when your time is up. Enjoy every minute and love everyone. Happy Thanksgiving.

One of my favorite holiday memories was at Christmas - we would go to my parents friends house and she would always have red and green popcorn balls wrapped beautifully and hung on the tree. Of course, I always got to eat a few. Gee, now I know why my mom never made them for OUR tree!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory was the holidays right after coming back from boot camp. Food never tasted so good. It was like eating for the first time. Yummy. I came home both for Thanksgiving and Christmas that year. It was so cool.
