Childhood Obesity Is A Growing Problem

I feel it's so very important for our six year old little girl to eat healthy and maintain a healthy active life style. A healthy life style not only includes eating healthy but integrating some type of healthy exercise into your daily routine. I'm always shocked when I see children that weigh as much as an adult. It's so sad to see how these children struggle through life. It just breaks my heart.

I'm always on the lookout for any type of parent resource that will educate me on the activities that are going on in our community. We recently had our little one enrolled in karate. Wow, what an amazing experience. Our little girl just loved the class and wants to take another martial arts class. It was such a great class to take to get a little exercise. The hubby and I had so much fun watching our little girl that we've decided to enroll in an adult karate class. Since I'm always on the look out for fun activities in our area. During my search I came across this amazing website called Activitytree.com.  Actvitytree.com promotes fun and healthy activities for kids, such as kid’s lessons, classes and camps.  This website is so amazingly easy to use.  All you have to do is enter your zip code and the website lists all the fun events going on in your area.  What a great way to keep you child healthy and active.

I'm a huge Facebook fan.  So of course I had to see if they had a Facebook page and sure enough they did.   They have an amazing page called Get Kids Active! Facebook Campaign.  You can share ideas, find local activities, and share this site with all your friends.  What a great idea to help promote a healthy life style for your children.  I just love it!

I know what you're thinking.  Money is kind of tight right now.  How do we afford something like this?  No worries.  Activitytree.com is offering Kid's Activity Scholarships.  All you need to do is stop by the site and sign up for a chance to win.  Lets all join in and help teach our children about living an active and healthy life style.  It's so important for their future health and well being.

  1. sometimes I wish they would just take emphasis off weight all together. I was always skinny and that's all I heard is how I was too skinny. Now I have a granddaughter that is in the lowest 5% in weight for her age and their concerned. She's healthy and she moves CONSTANTLY!!! Can you say 'high metabolism?'. My kids were thin too and I went by 'if they are healthy they are just fine'. Never had the other issue with kids and can't imagine it being easy.
