Modern Medicine and Flue Season

I have been so sick since the second week of January. First it was bronchitis then a head cold which turned into a sinus infection. I really wanted to beat this thing without the use of antibiotics, but last Monday I caved and called the doctor for a prescription. I knew this infection wasn't going to go away on it's own. Thank god for modern medicine. I can't imagine what people did 150 years ago. I guess that's why the life expectancy was so short back then. I don't remember ever being sick once a month before. They were saying on the news that this is the worst flu season in a long time. Mainly due to the flu vaccine not being the correct strain. So, to sum it up the vaccine doesn't really work all that well. I have never gotten a flew shot. Though the past year I was contemplating on getting it. Maybe I should of this year. I'm so glad my daughter and my husband didn't get this nasty thing too. I'm such a huge supporter of child hood immunization. I feel everyone should get there children vaccinated. If you don't you are doing them a great injustice and leaving them in harms way. I always remember my grandmother telling me of her siblings who were both under the age of 2 who died from childhood diseases because there were no vaccines back in the early 1920's. I'll say it again thank god for modern medicine. Today I'm feeling the best I have felt in almost a month. I'm so happy. A huge thanks to my doctor.

  1. The more I talk with my daughter (who has done a LOT of research) I think I'm all for delayed vacs. If your child isn't in a daycare situation to begin with then delaying them shouldn't be a problem. But vacs definitely have a purpose.
