My Favorite Greek Restaurant is Closing

A popular Greek town restaurant is closing its doors for good after more than a century of serving Detroit.
New Hellas Cafe in Downtown Detroit will serve restaurant-goers their last meal Sunday night.
The owner of the 107-year-old cafe, Gus Anton, said he can't keep up the grueling pace of a restaurant owner.
Anton, 81, told Local 4 it's hard saying goodbye to their extended family of 35 workers but being in the business has been a wonderful experience.
The 35 workers will receive severance pay.
New Hellas has been in the Anton Family since 1901. The cafe has also been featured on the Food Network twice.

This is the only Greek Restaurant that cooks Greek food that comes close to tasting like the meals my grandma use to cook. Every year on my birthday we get a bunch of friends together and go eat dinner there. I always look forward to it. I'm so sorry to see them go. Thanks Hella's for all the great birthday dinners. You will be missed.
