David Goes To School Book Review

By: David Shannon
Copy Right: 2000
Ages: 2-8 years

This light-hearted companion to the Caldecott Honor Book "No, David!" is an entertaining, laugh-out-loud romp from the beginning of class to the end of the day. David's activities in school include chewing gum, talking out of turn, and engaging in a food fight, causing his teacher to say over and over, "No, David!"

My daughter and I took a trip to the library on Thursday. It was such a fun trip. She was so excited to go and pick out books. The bed time routine is to read her 3 or more books before she goes to bed. She looks forward to it every night. She loves to read. Well, she likes mommy and daddy to read. Though she tries to read to us on occasion. She is definitely going to be a book lover when she grows up. I came across the book David goes to school and grabbed it hoping it would help her with the transition into preschool. No, I was wrong. I have to say the book was a cute read and had fun illustrations but I didn't see it's point. The little boy in the book is always getting in trouble. She is going to think school is for getting yelled at by the teacher. I wouldn't recommend this book to parents getting ready to start their kids in preschool. Maybe it would be better for older kids that have already started school. Over all I don't really like the book.
