LASIK Technology

I have a friend who actually had LASIK surgery several years ago. He use to wear those coke bottle glasses. He was blind without them. He decided to have this surgery and it was the best decision of his life. The surgery was a success. It's been about seven years and he still doesn't need any type of corrective lenses. I was really curious about this surgery so I did my own research on LASIK information. LASIK is one of the most studied medical procedures. The success rate in amazing. Studies have shown that 95.4 percent of patients are satisfied with the outcome of the surgery. Today’s LASIK combines 3D mapping and customized treatment for the 1st all-laser technology. Not everyone can be a candidate for LASIK. About 20 to 25 percent of people are not eligible. People with thin, irregularly shaped corneas or unrealistic expectations are not considered good candidates. If you become a candidate for LASIK you should ask around to get a good referral for a doctor. There is an estimated 2 hour exam which includes 3-D mapping, customized wave-front measurements of your eye and an examination of your corneas. LASIK surgery is virtually painless. Serious complications are less than 1%. Some complications include dry eye, halos & double vision which can be alleviated by eye drops. The effects will diminish in time. Remember it is surgery and everyone needs to take time to heal. LASIK can change peoples life's for the better. Just imagine never having to wear glasses again.
