The First Day of Spring & Gardening

I just can't wait to start my gardening again. Of course once the weather starts warming up. It gives me something to look forward to during these long winter months. I never was really into it until we bought our current house back in 2001. We bought our house just newly built. That meant it didn't come with grass, landscaping, driveway, etc. So, as you can imagine we had tons of yard maintenance to do. Especially since we live on 1 1/2 acres. I'll never forget racking the dirt to get it ready to plant the grass. Seemed like we would never get it done, but we eventually did. It gives me great joy when I mow the lawn to know that me and the hubby are the ones who did all the work. When it came to the flower beds I was really excited since I got to design everything. Then it became a obsession and I'm still loving it today. In the summer our front and back yards look beautiful. I'm just adding up in my head all the new types of flowers I'm going to buy this year. It should be fun. It's nice to know the first day of spring is March 20th. Finally an end to winter.

  2. I totally understand about doing your own lawn and flower beds and a garden too. We started from scratch. We built a home on a old homestead that had not been lived on for years. The weeds were head high! It feels so good to look at our beautifully groomed yard and know how far it has come.Enjoyed reading your blog.
