Thursday Thirteen - 13 Slang Words I used In The 80's

In the 80's I was your typical everyday obnoxious teenager . My 20 year high school class reunion is coming up in October, which I plan on attending. It's going to be totally wild seeing all these old faces. The reunion really got me thinking about my younger years and all the off the wall words we use to say. We sure did have our own language going on back then. If you were a teenager in the 80's then you can totally relate to this. What type of words did you say in the 80's. Drop me a line and let me know. Hope you enjoy reading this Thursday 13 as much as I enjoyed writing it.

1. As If!
I'd rather not. "Hey why don't you go out with that guy in the Izod shirt?" "AS IF!"

2. Awesome
Something extremely good, and exceptional. "That movie was awesome."

3. Barf Me Out
You might of heard this come from a Valley Girl after you've said something offensive to her. Also used to describe something you do not particularly like.
See Also: Make Me Barf, Gross Me Out, Gross Me Out the Door, Grodie.

4. Bitchin
Superb, excellent. "That's a bitchin' Camaro."

5. Bite me
"Your such a poser" "Bite Me!"

6. Butt Ugly
Unattractive to the sight. I'm still using this one. LOL!!

7. Chill Pill
Take it easy. "Take a Chill Pill! You're gonna get us all busted."

8. Damn Skippy!
Similar to "You bet your a**!" Strong affirmation or agreement.

9. Dude
Someone who is cool. ie. "Dude!" Origins of this context word can be traced to California. This was my all time favorite word. It took me years to break the habit of saying it.

10. Fantabulous
It's basically Fantastic and Fabulous put together. It's something that is sarcastically good!

11. Gag Me With a Spoon
Disgusting.

12. Goober
"Eww. You've got a goober showing."
Something stupid. "Don't be such a goober."

13. Head Banger
Fan of heavy metal music. Yup, this is what people use to call me back in the day. LOL!

  6. Awesome is used to this day, by far too many people. Overused, in fact, to describe things that are not actually awesome, or even more than mildly interesting.

  7. I still use awesome. I think that's right up there with cool (slang terms that will never go out of style). Another one that I used a lot back in the 80s was "kick ass". Man, that's a kick ass stereo!

  22. I remember hearing a few of those from my sisters. I was a teenager in the 70s, so I never said any of them.

    Happy TT!
